100 Day Project Day 23 : Fairy Penguin
23/100 - Fairy Penguin
Fairy penguins are I think more commonly known as Little penguins but my Aussie family always taught me they were called fairy penguins and I think the name suits them better to be honest! ☺️ They are the tiniest of all the penguins, growing to only 33cm tall, and are non migratory, staying on their colony’s beaches all year round. They’re only found in southern Australia and New Zealand and are classed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
When I was a kid I used to have a cassette tape of Don Spencer’s animals songs (he’s an Australian kids entertainer) and there was a song all about fairy penguins! So they have a really special place in my heart cause I’ve grown up always knowing about them.
Do you call them fairy penguins? Or little penguins? Or something else entirely?
