I had all intentions of posting this buddy yesterday but then headaches coupled with phone use is never a good combo.
My day 27 animal is the central rock rat, a critically endangered rock rat found only in the very centre of Australia (in the Northern Territories). They’re population is so much in decline they were actually believed to be extinct in the wild in both 1990 and 1994 until more individuals were found in 2001.
There are only 5 rock rat species that are endemic to Australia and all play a critical role in the dispersal of seeds (their main food of choice) throughout their range.
