100 Day Project Day 28 : Saiga
28/100 of #TashIllustrates100Animals is the saiga! One of my favourite antelope species. I actually first learnt about them back in 2018 when I did the 100 day project for the first time!
The saiga is probably best known for its nose which is thought to help filter out dust in the summer and warm cold air in the winter. They’re found in the desert grasslands of Central Asia (around Kazakhstan) but sadly are critically endangered due to being hunted for their horns as well as mysterious mass dying events which has seen thousands of saiga die in short spans of time.
