49/100 - Plate-billed mountain toucan
Sadly I don't think I'm going to make it to 100 animals. It's just taking me far far too long to do them all and write up little blurbs about them. But I'll at least get to 50! And hey, that's a lot of animals that we've learnt about this year together!
The plate-billed mountain toucan is found in Ecuador and Columbia. They're very vocal and can often be heard duetting with each other. They're listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN but sadly due to deforestation and poaching for the pet bird trade their population is in decline.
