Inktober Day 12: Satanic Leaf Tailed Gecko

Inktober Day 12: Satanic Leaf Tailed Gecko

Day 12, it’s the satanic leaf gecko’s turn in the spotlight! So named because of their tail resembling a leaf and their bodies actually curve to mimic the curve of the leaves too. Their tails have notches and what looks like “tears” in it to make it as if it’s been gnawed on my insects (mine is still growing their tail out - that’s my excuse anyways!!). They’re found only in the rainforests of Madagascar and, whilst at the moment they are classed as least concern by the IUCN, habitat loss and the illegal collection of them to supply the exotic pet trade may soon put them at huge risks.
