Inktober Day 15: Japanese spider crab
Day 15! Halfway through already!! Anyone else feeling like this month is flying by?! Won’t lie - the spider crab is one of my least favourite animals. Spiders freak me out anyways (yes I know they’re good but my family spent my whole childhood telling me I’d die if I touched one and that’s really freaked me out). Spider crabs are the largest crab species in the world and can outlive most humans, the oldest caught was around 40 but they can live to over 100! They’re born in shallow water but as they grow they move out into deeper water and can be found up usually around 300m deep. And don’t let their skinny legs and claws fool you, they’re actually incredibly strong!
