Day 26: Mata mata turtle
One of my fave turtle species and one that was introduced to me by my pal Natelle! Mata mata turtles live in the leaf litter in shallow streams where they can blend in. It’s also known as the needle nose or leaf head turtle but whatever you call it it’s the only extant species in its genus making them truly one of a kind!
