Arid bronze azure butterflies are an incredible species of butterfly found in Western Australia!
Their larvae actually has an incredible relationship with sugar ants! The larvae lives its entire development stages in the nests of the sugar ants, who help protect the larvae from predators! It's believed that ants then rewarded by secretions by the larvae. Cute but also a little gross.
Arid bronze azures are critically endangered and only two small fragmented populations in Western Australia are thought to exist.
