Platypus Illustration in Gouache
Did you know that the platypus doesn’t have teeth? Instead it picks up gravel during bottom feeding and uses the stones to help “chew up” their food (mostly insects and small shellfish)
As a self proclaimed illustrator I actually share very few illustrations here on my grid but I’m hoping to change that a little this year. Last week I was really struggling with the whole being an indie biz owner (it’s really not all fun and paint) and it was Mr H’a suggestion that I sit down and just “draw stuff I like for a bit” that drew me out of the fog. I’ve been playing with my paints again and having the best time with it - this was the first thing I painted this week (and in a long time!) and it was just super fun to PLAY again. After a year of work-eat-sleep-repeat I really needed this. So I’m taking it forward as my word for 2021, as a reminder to myself that I need to let myself paint for fun too.
